To opt out of Meta AI features on Instagram, follow these steps, keeping in mind that some options may vary by region and availability:

  1. Adjust Ad Preferences:

    • Go to Settings > Ads > Ad Preferences.

    • Under Activity, toggle off data used for ads (e.g., "Data about your activity from partners").

    • Review and remove interests under Interests.

  2. Disable Facial Recognition (if available):

    • Navigate to Settings > Privacy > Face Recognition (availability varies).

    • Toggle off any options related to facial recognition.

  3. Limit Data Usage for AI Training:

    • Visit the Meta Accounts Center (via Settings).

    • Go to Your information and permissions > Data settings.

    • Look for options like "Learn more" about data usage or submit a request to opt out of AI training (especially in regions with GDPR/DSA compliance).

  4. Switch to Non-Algorithmic Feed:

    • Tap the Instagram logo at the top of your feed.

    • Select Following or Favorites to see posts chronologically instead of AI-sorted content.

  5. Clear Activity Data:

    • Under Settings > Privacy > Clear Search History to remove past searches.

    • Go to Settings > Security > Access Data to manage activity data.

  6. Opt Out of Personalized Content (Explore Page):

    • Long-press on posts in Explore and select "Not Interested" to reduce AI-driven recommendations.

Note: Some AI features are core to Instagram's functionality (e.g., spam detection), and full opt-out may not be possible. For region-specific options (e.g., EU users under GDPR), consult Meta's privacy policy or contact support for detailed opt-out forms.
